The following are unedited
comments from optional questionnaires (and e-mails)
from some former Linc Medical Spanish students in
response to our request for their feedback for our
new Medical Spanish website. For more student comments
about Linc School of
Spanish and its general Spanish department, atmosphere
and Spanish
learning environment.

"It
was great! I would definitely recommend the
course and I feel confident that I can now
converse with patients in Spanish if necessary.
The classes have been really enjoyable and
it is amazing how much I have learnt. Patricia
went at a great pace and it was just what I

is a great place to improve upon or learn
Spanish. The class sizes facilitate an environment
where you can receive individual attention
while benefitting from the opportunity to
work with others. The Medical Spanish course
was also excellent. I learned vocabulary and

with patients, and had an adequate opportunity
to practice it during the duration of the

"Que la administración
y los profesores son bien organizados y tienen
respeto y cariño a los extranjeros (estudiantes).
This class combines various methods of learning
(reading, writing, games, listening, interviews,
etc.) with medical terms. If you are looking for
a medical Spanish class, this is an excellent
introduction. It is fun, challenging and the progress
is obvious!

"I think
the course is a great way to introduce medical
students and doctors to practical Spanish that
they may need when on countering a patient from
a Spanish speaking country and they don’t
come with translator. The teaching is excellent

"I would very highly
recommend Linc to anyone interested in studying
Spanish. The teachers were very effective in their
methods of teaching. The Medical Spanish provided
all the material necessary to take an effective
listing in Spanish (in many different specialities).
The Medical spanish class is very well organized.
Although my time was short (2 weeks) I feel like
I gained a strong foundation to build on.

"I really
liked the medical spanish course. It was well
organised! At first we played a game to revise
our vocabulary regarding the body, illnesses and
symptoms. Then we looked at typical questions
for patient interviews and symptoms. Finally we
did role-plays.
I liked the way Lourdes guided us through the
course. I think this course is really useful for
my future career. Thank you very much Lourdes!"

"¡Lourdes es
una de las profesoras de español mas buenas
que he tenido nunca! Os recomiendo este curso
con mucho gusto. Soy estudiante de medicina en
los EEUU, en el ultimo año de la escuela.
Queria estar preparada para comunicar con la gente
española y hispanoamericana como doctora
en mi residencia, y a este curso me ha dado mucho
más confianza en comunicar en el “español
médico”. Elejí ese tipo de
curso porque la medicina tiene mucho vocabulario
especifico que no se puede aprender en otros cursos
ni en la calle. El curso de Linc tiene materiales
y ejercicios para asegurar que aprender este vocabulario
es divertido y muy útil. Después
de un mes, puedo hacer una entrevista medica en
total- todos los sintomas, las preguntas y las
enfermedades comunes, ahora los puedo discutir
en español. Ha superado mis expectaciones.
Lo más importante es que el curso tiene
orientación muy practica a la entrevista
con el paciente.¡ Gracias linc! Recomendaría
el curso a mis compañeros y os lo recomiendo
a vosotros sin duda."

by Linc were excellent. They went above and beyond
to make my stay comfortable, and assist with any
problems I had. More importantly, the medical

The depth of knowledge covered in the class for

Spanish class and had a wonderful experience.
I had some basic Spanish so this course filled
the gap in my Spanish knowledge that had prevented
me from interacting more with my Spanish-speaking
patients.
I'm not fluent yet but my patient really appreciates
my Spanish even though it's limited. The course
was flexible and Rocio, my instructor, would tailor
the course to areas of my interests. Staying in
Seville during my course was nothing short of
a perfect immersion into the wonderful culture

"Linc offered a variety of classes in a personalized
environment. The staff were friendly, helpful,
and informative. The school itself was small,
so you got to know all of the students from around
the world, and it really felt like its own community.
I took the medical spanish course for one month,
and absolutely loved it. The course was well-planned
and, because of the small size, it was flexible
to the students' particular needs and interests.
The instructor was both professional and personable.
The classes obviously involved grammar and extensive
vocabulary; however, it was the role-playing that
allowed the students to really practice what they
learned and get a feel for how they would use
their knowledge in a real-world setting.
I would recommend the class to anyone who is in
a healthcare profession and wants to be able to
communicate in Spanish in their work. And Sevilla!
What a place to learn Spanish! The city is alive,
pulsing, thriving with energy and fun. The sevillanos
are an amazingly friendly and welcoming people.
The history and beauty of the city cannot be compared
to anywhere else."

"I really enjoyed and learned much from my
2 week courses at Linc. The staff were very helpful
in getting me situated, working out logistics,
and answering questions regarding coursework,
culture, music, food, and events.
Rocio, I especially
enjoyed taking your Medical Spanish class. I know
it was somewhat a struggle given that I had no
prior Spanish classes but I have been able to
incorporate and retain quite a bit of vocabulary
(body parts, diagnoses, etc) and sentence structures.
I really appreciated that you took the time to
tailor the class to meet our individual learning
needs
-- including educating us about differences with
medicine, health, and social issues. (I also appreciated
the restaurant recommendations and my mouth still
waters from the chipparones from that tapas restaurant!

"In my two week stay in Sevilla last year,
I went from only the basics of /hola /and /gracias
/to being able to hold conversations in the present
and past tenses, with a little future also! The
school were incresibly friendly and my home-stay
was fantastic, really great practice!
I couldn't praise the medical spanish course enough.
Rocio was incredibly patient and gave us lots
of exercises and vocab to practice with. Having
just returned from my 6 week medical elective
in Peru, I managed to speak to patients, diagnose
and discuss treatment plans and even complete
presentations, in an environment where no one
spoke english. This course is a fantastic foundation
for anyone wanting to practice in a spanish speaking
