| Lourdes
Martinez - Medical Spanish Teacher |
Hello,
I'm Lourdes,
a senior teacher at Linc who has been involved
with the Medical Spanish classes for four
years now.
I have taught people from the world of medicine
who need Spanish as a fundamental tool,
in order to do their work for diagnostic
procedures and treatment of patients.
We structure our courses to be practical,
clear and communicative, therefore the students
learn strategies to question patients, understand
patients needs, give instructions on prescriptions
and diagnose the patients illness in Spanish.
I demand a lot from my students (both in
the classroom and in exercises done at home).
However the learning atmosphere I create
in the classroom is relaxed and easy-going.
Class Atmosphere and Activities
The activities we use are focused on the
communicative method and result in very
practical solutions to linguistic problems.
I believe we can work and enjoy ourselves
at the same time, which is without doubt
the best way to learn and work together.
I have a BA in Spanish Language from the
University of Seville as well as El Certificado
de Aptitud Pedagógica authorized
from the Instituto de Ciencias de la Educación.
During seven years of teaching Spanish as
a Foreign language, I have participated
in many different courses and seminars relating
to Medical Spanish.
One of many passions besides language and
literature is medicine due to a family background
in medicine. Another perk of the job is
meeting new people from all over the world
with medicine as a common denominator.

Rocio
Minguet - Medical Spanish Teacher |
My
name is Rocio and since 2002 I have developed
and taught the Medical Spanish Course at
Linc.
Our
course has a practical focus and our goal
is that the student at the end of the course
will be able to maintain an interview with
a Spanish-speaking patient, without
the need of a translator.
The
students enjoy the course from the first
day of class since they recognize from the
content of the course the real situations
that they will face in the hospital.
In class,
the atmosphere is relaxed, open and friendly
in which all of the students are able to
participate and enjoy the course. Nevertheless,
the goals that we achieve are only assessable
through studying and hard work.
Medical Spanish Needs and
Creativity
Medicine
is a field that has always interested me.
Because of this, the creation of the Medical
Spanish Course has been an exciting task
of which I have enjoyed very much. To share
it with the students in class is highly
motivating for me, and gives me the opportunity
to keep investigating every time a new need
is created in class
I´ve
got a BA in English Language from the University
of Seville and I possess the Certificado
de Aptitud Pedagógica that is granted
from the Ministry of Education and Investigation
of Spain. Also, I have carried out several
courses that have given me the preparation
to practise this profession.
During
the last twelve years I have been teaching
languages, and during the last five years
I have been exclusively devoted to teaching
Spanish as a Foreign Language.
